Instrument Games

Games introduce notes in the order they are learnt. Play the note on your instrument in audio mode.

Special features for different instruments include finger numbers, slide position, valve and fingering charts.

Audio Mode

You can also play the note on your instrument directly into the game. It helps students learn to read music fast and to play in tune.

Joseph Allan

Welcome to music.school.nz where you can learn how to read music for free without all the adverts.

I started learning violin and saxophone in the 1970s and music has been a big part of my life ever since. In 1984 my parents got me a computer which later led to a 20 year career as a programmer. In 2014 I switched to teaching music full time and wrote these games to help my students learn to read the notes.

From time to time bugs sneak through with updates so please email me if something is no longer working or if you have any suggestions. My email address is joseph@allan.nz.

Finally please share this resource to help others learn to read music and enjoy.
